Feedback 360 in groups rather than to individuals.

I generally facilitate feedback, not to individuals, but to groups of people.

They fall into two categories - people from the same organisation and at a similar level of achievement or people having a similar role across a range of organisations -private, public and not-for-profit.

Feedback in groups - though initially a more intimidating prospect for the participants, can provide enormous, extra benefits.

When properly managed, the group works to provide supportive encouragement to each member through the often stormy seas of the feedback process.

The participants can also share hints and tips about useful behaviours that have worked for them and so create a co-coaching environment around the table. Where the participants are coming from different organisations, I find that, after the initial nervousness, there develops a great mutual bond and the possibility for developing a strong futre network of people who know you, very well - warts and all - and are firmly on each others' side!

It is also less possible for participants to ignore or deny the feedback they are being presented with, as the group often concurs with the general, stated perceptions - rather than the 'blinkered' views of the individual. (For the Top 10 Reasons to regularly given to reject feedback - see here.)
